17 Year Old Wanna Be Blogger

Over a decade ago, I started dabbling around with the idea of wanting to express my ideas on my own blog. Thought I would share the posts I still had on that blog. As someone who has deleted almost all accounts on the Internet I have had at one point or another, I was surprised this seemed to be the only one that made it through alive. I had forgotten about it, until a memory was unlocked. Below, are the several posts that remained, waiting for me to re-discover and to come back to with years of quite a cocktail of lived experience.

The Genesis

At the moment I am sitting here in my bed, curled up with my non disapproving blanket, my single lamp glowing in the corner of my room. The time is 10:35 and my stomach is stuffed from the mass amounts of tofu and nuts I have just devoured. Out of interest to try something new, I just spent the last hour exploring blogs and psyching myself up for the idea of myself beginning the journey for myself. So. Here I am. We’ll see how it goes. A journey in which, along the way, I will also attempt the use of sophisticated language; hence “indelible”, “jubilation” and “genesis”. Note, I have never used these words in my life and, until ten minutes ago, did not know what the meaning of a single one of them was. Ah, the beauty of the thesaurus.

Follow

Follow
The silence of her steps
The silence of her glow
Follow
The gentle glimmer of her eyes
The slow ripple of her hair
Follow
Her direction
Her silence
Follow
Her through the perpetual path
Her through the impenetrable thoughts

She takes you through the corners
Of the unexplored
Of the propitious road

She turns
She smiles
You’ve made it

Find

Have you ever taken the time to really take in your surroundings? I mean, reallyyyy. Have you ever sympathized with the lonesome tree, heard the sound of the ants heart beat, felt the sincerity of the calling wind. Have you noticed the perfect smile your friend has? The movement of your eyelashes as you view the world around you? Take it all in. You’d be surprised what you find. No need to discover anything, it’s out there for you to find.

Reinvigorated

Is it time for something new? Are you bored of doing the same thing over and over again? Falling into the same habits? How big a change do you really want anyway? Well, I’ve been through the feelings of continuously wanting change. Note, some of the things I have done have mostly only entertained me for a short period of time. So, here are some ideas of things for you to try:
– Invite a friend with you wherever you’re going. No need to make fancy plans, just invite them to join you with something you were already planning on doing. And quite honestly, they don’t even have to be a close friend. It’s actually better if you invite someone you’ve never talked to. You never know what could happen
– Go on a one month vegan trial (except try for longer ;), if possible). You’ll be amazed at how much entertainment you’ll have looking for new foods and completely changing what’s in your kitchen, including all the new recipes you’ll try out. You may even be fascinated by how your taste buds could change over time.
– Cut your hair. This one’s a little overdone, I admit, but quite honestly, I think many of us can say it has created some fun change in our lives. No need to do anything extreme, just a little something to freshen up.
– Learn ASL (American Sign Language) and try to find others you can sign with! This nonverbal language is a unique and fun language to learn. And think about, communication with your hands! (But, don’t forget the importance of facial expressions). You’ll truly become amazed with how much you are able to express without uttering a single word!
– Start a YouTube channel. You know what, why not? No need to tell anyone. Keep it as your own personal secret. Who knows, maybe one day it could be big. And it could even be a fun way to just vent or try to entertain yourself during uneventful weekends.
– Walk. Anywhere. Just let your feet take you where they shall. You never know what you could come across, who you could meet.

Those four posts, were enough to reignite a spark in me, as I remember the teenager who was very content having her school lunches with her English teacher and best friend, and spending her entire weekend locked away in her room, and silently observing everyone’s behaviour. Several things have changed since then, but the voice remains largely the same. For example, I am no longer vegan, but I am glad I gave it a try. I am also grateful I cut all my hair off at that age, because why the hell not. It is now a long flowing mane. Anyways, thanks younger me, for being the weirdo you were and for leaving me some weird time capsule.
