The world changes, or so it seems. Or was it me who changed, and was able to see what was right in front of me all along? The sky is brighter, and the birds are chirping; I notice the sunrise and sunset more. Or was it that I painted all of my memories with cloud and rain?
Sometimes the circumstances of our lives change including who we are surrounded by, how much money we have, the activities of our day to day, and even the state of the world. But, more often tha not, I think what really changes is our internal world that alters what reflection we see staring back at us.
I feel like I am on a seesaw a t times, teetering between the good moments, then dipping back into some low. It doesn’t crash as hard to the ground anymore though, because of a shift in perspective. Once I realized that the way I was painting certain moments in my mind, with someone else’s paintbrush, I decided that was taking much of my own narrative and values out of the picture.
So, I got my own fancy paintbrush, repainted some of the old canvases in the “museum of memories”, while allowing my own style to seep through with every brush stroke.
