The article I received to my inbox this morning was about the hidden costs of using AI. Obviously, it caught my attention, as that seems to be the topic of hype everywhere lately. Not only that, but also, I find myself using ChatGPT to provide me with what I find is more summarized content when I want to learn about something.
The thoughts/connections that come to mind, are a couple things; the magazine cover at work the other day that I used to spark a conversation with my coworker, a book I read called “Human, God, Animal, Machine”, and a university course I thad an introduction to which was “Technology, Culture, and Society”. Then, there are my thoughts on the people I hae known in the past who now work for these companies, privacy concerns/abuse of power, beliefs on how we should use our own creative energy, but also a desire to make things more efficient/easier. Let’s just say, I have opinions.
Honestly, I didn’t read the whole article, but what I have been gathering is that there is quite a bit we should be concerned about. The artwork of cyborgs that used to intrigue me, but seemed to disturb others are still prominently in my mind. Maybe because that is a reality I see happening in my lifetime.
